About Gavin Sumner

I was part of a SaaS business that was acquired by a FTSE 50 business and then went through a scaling journey from seed to series B in a Fintech business.
Over the last 15 years I have worked in B2B tech companies helping to scale their revenue teams across sales, customer success and partnerships.

Having experienced a scaling journey that led to an acquisition into a FTSE 50 company, I most recently joined a start-up, scaling from seed to series B whilst leading the sales and marketing teams at MarketFinance.

I’m an accredited personal & business coach, and continue to develop my coaching skills through my work with the international coaching federation.

With a strong focus on driving coaching cultures with the teams I work with, I also spend some of my time being an advocate trustee for Voiceability, and I am a long term business ambassador of Ambitious about Autism.
What’s the highlight of your career?

Qualifying as a coach. Although being a coach will never be something I complete, I love that fact that I spend most of my day helping people move forwards. Coaching is something that enables me to continually learn new ways of helping people that are stuck on certain things in their lives. There are so many great ideas out there for how you can do this to become more coachlike....you just need to know where to look.

What’s the number one piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Being useful to people makes you happy. In the pursuit of happiness for me, I discovered that the more I invested into being useful for people, it increased my energy and happiness levels. It can be done in the smallest of ways, but being useful without expecting anything in return (apart from a sense of fulfillment) - has been a game changer in my personal and professional life.
