About Sophie Carter

I am so privileged to be heading up the Interim and Fractional business at Scalewise.
I have over 17 years commercial experience, predominantly in B2B SaaS, and I started my career in some of the world’s biggest tech brands, in account management, consultative selling and global sales management roles. Whilst this was an incredible learning experience, the decision to leave the corporate world and apply everything I had learnt to helping early stage businesses scale is by far and away the most rewarding (and fun) aspect of my career.

As a five time Fractional CRO myself, I am passionate about helping ambitious scaling businesses fast track their way through common pitfalls to build happy commercial teams that are smashing their revenue targets. I am also delighted to be helping a new wave of incredible leaders help startups and scaleups grow whilst being able to lead portfolio careers offering more flexibility and opening new possibilities for work-life balance.
What’s the highlight of your career?

At the first seed stage business I worked with, within 6 months we had closed a multi-million pound recurring deal with a FTSE 100 company that changed the business’ fortunes and forever cemented my decision to work with startups/scaleups. We shut up the office and took the whole company out for champagne to celebrate!

What’s the number one piece of advice you’ve ever received?

You learn more from adversity than you do in the good times. Sure it’s great when everything is flying: you’re hitting your targets, growing market share and your customers love you. But when you get hit by a competitor out of the blue, you have little to no budget or there is a problem in your team: that’s when you learn the most, when your creativity really comes to the fore and those lessons are carried with you long afterwards.
